Welcome to the website of The Schola Cantorum of the Pacific, now in our 40th year fostering excellence in classical and contemporary Liturgical and Sacred Music in the Catholic Church in the United States.   Our home church is St. John Chrysostom Parish in Inglewood, California, for both the Schola of Adults and Youth.   The Schola conducts workshops in Gregorian Chant, Liturgical Music Pedagogy and Cantoral Skills., and fosters new compositions of Liturgical and Sacred Music.  A special ministry of the Schola is to provide Music Education gratis to children in needier circumstances.   In 2014, the Schola initiated a children’s choirschool program, Escolanía Pacífica, at Assumption Catholic School in the Los Angeles community of Boyle Heights.  The Schola was founded by Marianist Father Ted Ley, SM, and associates interested in living and sharing the Catholic Church’s musical ‘…treasure of inestimable worth’  (De Sacra Liturgia, Vatican II).
